The University

The Faculty of Education at the University of Cambridge wishes to appoint a Research Associate to work within PEDAL (the Faculty of Education's centre for research on Play in Education, Development and Learning). This post offers an opportunity to get involved in a Nuffield Foundation  funded project to mobilise the Early Years Library (EYL), an online resource for early years practitioners. You will join the project at an exciting time when we are designing the resources and activities to bring the EYL to life. You will also play a role in collecting and analysing qualitative and quantitative data and you will prepare academic and non-academic outputs.

This is a part-time (0.6 FT) fixed term position for 24 months and can be filled as soon as possible. 

Remote working is possible, with at least one day per week in person.

Please note that the role will require an enhanced DBS check.

About the Role

Duties will include:

  • Contributing to creating content and designing materials for the EYL training and support package.
  • Managing communications, meetings and relationships with stakeholders.
  • Contributing to data collection, data entry and analysis of qualitative and quantitative data on studies.
  • Drafting outputs to be shared on our website, via social media, and for academic publication

What you will need

  • A PhD in a relevant area (e.g., early childhood studies, education, psychology)
  • Experience of working with or in early years/ primary education sector in England
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to deal with a wide range of people, including as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Firm grasp of both qualitative and quantitative data analysis and reporting, including use of specialised software
  • Willingness to occasionally travel
