The School holds a Bronze Athena Swan Award for its commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion. We strongly encourage applications from groups underrepresented in UK academic History, including people from BAME backgrounds who are currently underrepresented across our teaching and research. You will be expected to have research expertise in and experience of teaching Modern History. You will have specific responsibility for convening and delivering the second-year optional module HIST259: ‘Russia Transformed, 1900-1932’, together with participating in team-taught undergraduate and postgraduate modules potentially to include HIST105 ‘History Matters’, HIST106 ‘Presenting the Past’, HIST117 ‘Understanding Modern Europe’, HIST320/HIST388 ‘Uses of the Past: History Impact Module’, HIST503/512 ‘Flashpoints and Watersheds in Twentieth Century History’ and HIST590: ‘Themes in History’. In addition to these responsibilities, you will undertake moderation of other History modules and act as an academic advisor to undergraduate students. You will work under the administrative direction of the Head of Department (Professor Mark Towsey) and may have the opportunity to contribute to administrative roles that underpin undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and enhance the student experience (in line with Faculty and University strategies). For candidates who do not yet have Fellowship of Advance HE, there will be opportunities to work towards accreditation during your time in post. A full list of duties are included in the attached job description.
