We have an opportunity for a Research Associate to make a leading contribution to the Cambridge Edition of the Works of Virginia Woolf, working with Professor Bryony Randall. They will primarily be working on the preparation of The Collected Shorter Fiction of Virginia Woolf, although will also have the opportunity to contribute to at least one other volume in the Cambridge Woolf Edition. This role will include checking the completed texts and textual apparatus for The Collected Shorter Fiction; following up on queries identified in the checking process; contributing to the drafting of explanatory notes and of the composition, publication and reception histories of Woolf’s short fictions; and organizing the bibliography for The Collected Shorter Fiction.

This role is open to an early career researcher who has completed a PhD since 1 October 2021. The successful candidate will have appropriate expertise in the discipline and preferably some experience of textual editing, although further training and guidance on the editorial approaches used in the Cambridge Woolf Edition will be provided. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to the formulation and submission of research publications and research proposals, as well as help manage and direct this complex and challenging project as opportunities allow.

The appointment is funded by the Modern Humanities Research Association (MHRA), which exists to promote high-quality scholarship in English and the Modern Languages. It does this by publishing journals and monographs and by supporting major research projects.

There may be a possibility of some paid pre-honours teaching work for the successful candidate (up to 60 hours). This would be in addition to the Research Associate role. Please contact Bryony Randall for further information.
