Grade J (Profile 3b): £41,732 - £46,974 per annum, pro rata if part time; or

Grade K (Profile 3c): £48,350 - £54,395 per annum, pro rata if part time,

depending on experience; plus attractive recruitment supplement.

The role

The University of Bristol Business School invites applications for the position of Lecturer (Education Pathway) in Finance. This is a permanent position, subject to review. 

Applications are sought from candidates with a PhD in Finance or a related field. Successful candidates will demonstrate experience or have an aptitude for teaching to the highest standards at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and a commitment to scholarship. Applications demonstrating a commitment to engage with the student body, other disciplines and with key external stakeholders will be treated favourably.

What will you be doing?

You will be involved in a range of education activities in the newly formed Business School. In particular, you will: 

  • Undertake teaching and assessment on both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, contributing to curriculum development, course design, and the development and delivery of learning materials.
  • Act as personal tutor to undergraduate and/or postgraduate students.
  • Supervise dissertations at the postgraduate level.
  • Make a wider contribution to the success of the University through your participation in Faculty and University-wide governance and development activities.
  • Undertake other administrative duties as assigned by the Head of Group. 

You should apply if

  • You have an in-depth subject knowledge in one or more of the following areas: financial markets, corporate finance, banking.
  • You hold a PhD in a relevant subject area (completed or nearing completion).
  • You have experience of teaching effectively at undergraduate, postgraduate or professional levels in a relevant discipline, in large and small-group settings.
  • You have a proactive approach to teaching.
  • You are capable of taking initiative to improve students’ learning.
  • You can evidence excellent organisational and administrative skills.
  • You have the ability to contribute effectively to the administration and management of the School and Faculty.
