This post is permanent and is being offered as 1 FTE (5 days per week)

LSE is the world’s leading social sciences institution, established for the betterment of society. The School is committed to widening access to and participation in higher education and ‘developing LSE for everyone’ is a key objective of the LSE 2030 strategy.

The Widening Participation Team, based in the Academic Registrar’s Division, leads our efforts to widen access to LSE for UK undergraduate students from under-represented groups and supports the attainment and progression to HE for hundreds of young people each year. The WP team works with colleagues across the School to meet the ambitious commitments in our Access and Participation Plan (APP) with the regulator, the Office for Students (OfS).

We are seeking an Evaluation Manager (Access) to lead evaluation, monitoring and reporting of pre-entry and widening access activities included in our APP. Working with colleagues across the School, you will ensure there is a coherent and robust evidence-based approach to interventions supporting access and participation across the student lifecycle. Reporting to the Deputy Head of Widening Participation (Strategic Projects), the post-holder will:

  • Work collaboratively to manage and implement rigorous and effective evaluation strategies across pre-entry and widening access activities
  • Provide analysis and insight around strategic priorities connected to LSE’s APP
  • Create concise, engaging and accurate presentations, reports and briefings to share the impact of our activities and contribute to sector evidence

The successful candidate should have:

  • Excellent knowledge of UK secondary and higher education and key issues in widening participation
  • An ability to work effectively and build strong relationships with people at all levels including colleagues in other Recruitment & Admissions teams, current students, activity participants and external evaluation contacts
  • Excellent understanding of impact evaluation types, and the ability to design and implement appropriate and proportionate evaluation methods and outcome indicators
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to share the impact and evidence of programme effectiveness and outcomes

This position will be subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check with childrens’ barred list. Any offer of employment made is conditional on receipt of a satisfactory DBS check.
