The Technical Platform for Innovation and Knowledge Exchange (T-PIKE) is an EPSRC-funded Eastern Arc project, led by University of Essex in partnership with University of Kent and University of East Anglia. T-PIKE will deliver a training, mentoring and knowledge exchange framework for research technical professionals (RTPs) to engage with industrial and commercial partners, charities, and third sector organisations. The programme aims to enable and recognise the contribution of RTPs to knowledge exchange, encourage new entrants to the technical sector, support succession development and create career opportunities.
The Programme Manager (T-PIKE) will be based at the University of Essex, within the Research and Enterprise Office (REO). The REO is responsible for supporting the research, impact, knowledge exchange and commercialisation activity of the University.
Duties of the Role
The Programme Manager (T-PIKE) will be responsible for overseeing the successful planning and execution of T-PIKE. This will include: developing detailed plans, allocating resources, line managing a knowledge exchange officer, and managing budgets to ensure all activity aligns with the programme’s objectives. You will work alongside the project leadership team and senior management, providing regular updates on progress, risks and dependencies.
The Programme Manager (T-PIKE) will form part of the operational project team, which will include three knowledge exchange officers (with one based at each university), to facilitate communication and collaboration across the three institutions. You will establish and maintain governance structures, methodologies and processes to streamline project delivery and ensure consistency across the programme.
This post is fixed-term until 31 March 2028. Whilst this is a full-time post, part-time or a job share arrangement may be considered.
The team is working to a hybrid working arrangement, which currently involves a minimum of two days per week in the office at the Colchester campus.
Skills and qualifications required
You will be educated to degree level or equivalent, will have an excellent understanding of the research environment, experience of managing projects, excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills, and ability to carry out line management responsibilities effectively to meet objectives.
At the University of Essex, internationalism and diversity is central to who we are and what we do.
