Role Summary

The post holder will support the development of a comprehensive package of careers and employability support, in partnership with Heads of Schools and Employability Leads, that improves the graduate outcomes of students in Schools of Psychology; Geography, Earth & Environmental Sciences; Sport & Exercise Sciences; and Biosciences. The post holder will deliver careers advice and guidance, develop employability programmes, and support the integration of employability in academic modules. With a sharp focus on offering a positive experience to all our students and recent graduates, this post will be highly responsive to the diverse employability needs of the student body and actively respond to changes in the way students and recent graduates want to access careers support and interact with Careers Network. 

The post holder will work with the Careers Consultant for Life & Environmental Sciences, colleagues in Careers Network, and with academic partners to implement the University’s employability strategy and play an important role in helping the University to meet its overall targets in relation to graduate employability. This involves leading on a range of projects and working collaboratively to meet shared objectives. 

Person Specification

Essential:

  • A formal education up to degree level
  • Knowledge of recruitment and employment practices of graduate recruiters, trends regarding the graduate labour market, and graduate outcomes for recent graduates.
  • Evidence of ability to communicate effectively in different scenarios with a wide variety of audiences such as student workshops, student appointments, team meetings, and conferences, and confidence to use digital technology to aid information sharing.
  • Experience of being able to engage effectively with a range of stakeholders and to undertake projects collaboratively.
  • Ability to implement effective evaluation processes, undertake detailed analysis to develop insights from data, and to inform operational plans.
  • Excellent digital skills, including good knowledge of standard Microsoft Office software, and confident using custom systems, databases, social media, and digital application to support delivery.
