Applications are invited for a SQL Database Administrator to join our team working in the Department of Primary Care Health Sciences to help manage our research databases and data transformation pipelines.
The successful applicant will be supporting a range of SQL servers, looking after the day-to-day services, ensuring the daily data feeds are running as expected and troubleshooting issues and problems that arise, both from a server perspective and from a data quality side. Responsibilities will include supporting staff and researchers in the use of the databases, including ensuring the right data is provided, the server is correctly configured to provide the desired performance, and monitoring systems to develop improvement plans.
The research we undertake uses healthcare data so an eye on security is a must and you will need to bring your technical expertise to advise and construct database plans, schemas etc. that support the academic requirement while maintaining the correct level of security and protection for our information assets. We are looking to develop our data warehouse platforms and strategy and you will be involved in the design work and implementation of these plans, including potential expansion to use cloud-based resources where appropriate.
You will be based in the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences, Radcliffe Primary Care Building, Woodstock Road, Oxford, OX2 6GG, as your normal place of work.
The role is full time. We are flexible about how the patterns of hours would be arranged to reflect the need for some out-of-service-hours work (for example maintenance on the databases). The role is hybrid, combining working from home with time in the office, which will be agreed at appointment.
The position is funded for two years in the first instance.
