NIHR Academic Clinical Lecturer (ACL) in Primary Care

FOUR YEARS’ FIXED TERM

1.0FTE (50% clinical NHS service and 50% academic)

The aim of the current posts is to support a post-doctoral GP academic to work within the School, to develop her/his skills and expertise, and become an independent researcher. 

Keele’s School of Medicine has a strong partnership with our NHS partners including general practitioners, rheumatology, physiotherapy, psychology, psychiatry, pharmacy, to underpin our research into the management of musculoskeletal problems in primary care, mental health research and the interface between primary and secondary care health services. In the recent Research Excellence Framework (REF) conducted by the UK Universities’ Funding Council (HEFCE), 91% of our research was rated as World Leading or Internationally Excellent research, and Primary Care was ranked 3rd nationally. 

You will develop and contribute clinical expertise to ongoing and new programmes of research within the School. We have particular expertise in the following areas: Musculoskeletal Pain and Arthritis, Mental Health and Wellbeing, Dementia, Prognosis and Consultation Epidemiology, Cardiology, Global and Public Health. 

The post is open to applicants with skills and experience in any type of research or methodology.

You will be qualified to PhD level in health research (or within three months of submission) of your thesis. You will be expected to contribute clinical insights, and knowledge and expertise in General Practice in one or more of the research programmes in the School, and participate in teaching and research training programmes, contribute to the development of new studies and research grant applications, and undertake an active role in PhD supervision. You will also be required to maintain up to 5 PAs as a practising GP.
