Applications for the post are welcome in the general areas of Data Systems and Knowledge & Data Engineering, which complement existing strengths in the Knowledge & Data Engineering Systems Research Group, and the Information, Data and Analysis (IDA) Section of the School of Computing Science. Applicants whose research expertise bridges Data Engineering, Artificial Intelligence and Knowledge Discovery are particularly welcome. This includes (but not limited to) topics such as:

  • Data Engineering,
  • Data-centric Artificial Intelligence,
  • Distributed Artificial Intelligence,
  • Decentralized & Federated Learning,
  • Knowledge-based Systems,
  • Large-scale Data Analytics,
  • Big Data Systems,
  • Data Mining & Knowledge Discovery
  • Graph Mining,
  • Knowledge Graphs,
  • Knowledge Representation & Reasoning,
  • Distributed Knowledge Bases and Databases,
  • Statistical Databases,
  • Uncertainty modelling, and Data warehousing
  • Explainability, Fairness, and Trust in Data Systems.

The postholder will develop, lead and sustain research of international standard in Computing Science; contribute to teaching, assessment, project supervision and curriculum design at undergraduate and postgraduate levels; and participate in School management and organisation.

For appointment at Reader you will have an outstanding track record of national and international distinction and leadership in research, including publications, income, and awards, bringing external recognition and distinction to yourself and the University.

The position is equivalent to US tenure track Assistant or Associate Professor.
