Teaching Fellow in Cognitive / Usage-based Linguistics

Location: Dugald Stewart Building, Edinburgh, EH8 9AD, GB (Hybrid working)

Full time 35 hours per week

The School of Philosophy, Psychology and Language Sciences is seeking to appoint a full time, fixed term Teaching Fellow specialising in Cognitive / Usage-based Linguistics.

The opportunity:

The successful post holder will provide high quality teaching delivery and assessment support at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, specifically in the area of cognitive/usage-based Linguistics.

They will actively contribute to the overall intellectual environment of the School play a collegiate role in the overall functioning of the Linguistics and English Language Department.

The post is ideally required to start from August/early September 2024, and will be based in our central campus, Edinburgh.

Your skills and attributes for success:

• Relevant qualification in Linguistics/English Language (or closely related field) with relevant post-graduate research and/or teaching experience in cognitive/usage-based linguistics, with a focus on syntax and/or semantics, and/or historical linguistics/language change.
• Experience in design and delivery of effective undergraduate and postgraduate university teaching (and experience of supervision would also be desirable).
• Postgraduate research experience in Linguistics with evidence of outstanding potential.
• Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience of online course delivery.
