We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Structural Engineering, who will be a member of the Teaching and Scholarship (T&S) staff in the School of Engineering.
The person appointed to this fixed-term post will provide lectures and laboratory-based teaching to undergraduate and postgraduate students in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. Specifically, you would be required to cover modules in Structural Engineering, alongside tutorials and projects taught within the undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes in Civil and Architectural Engineering.
You will interact with between 20 and 150 students across a variety of modules in different academic settings. You will provide pastoral care for tutor groups, maintain contact with students within modules, arrange and mark assignments and supervise undergraduate and Masters level research projects.
We particularly welcome applications from scholars who identify with groups who continue to be underrepresented and who face barriers to inclusion in higher education and/or who are from Majority World or any related diaspora. We believe that a diverse and supportive environment, bringing different perspectives to our work and allowing people to blossom is the best platform for excellent teaching.
You should have An undergraduate degree (2.1 or above) in civil or structural engineering or a relevant physical or mathematical science discipline and a PhD (or nearing completion of PhD) in structural engineering.
You should demonstrate relevant experience in higher education teaching. Applicants with experience in teaching mechanics are particularly encouraged to apply.
This post is offered on a fixed term basis from September 2024 until July 2025.
