The Courtauld Institute of Art is the UK’s leading institution for teaching and research in the History of Art and the conservation of paintings and is also home to one of the finest small art galleries in the world. The Courtauld is transitioning through a major capital transformation project and will be continuing over the next five-year period to transform its estate that will make The Courtauld’s world-class artworks, research and teaching accessible to more people – in the UK and internationally.

The Courtauld is looking to recruit an experienced receptionist to join our small Estates and Facilities team to work collaboratively with our security and commercial and visitor experience staff to perform a pivotal role in being primary points of contact, to provide a welcoming and professional front of house reception service to our staff, students, and visitors.

Key responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • Greet and responding to staff, students, and visitors in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Receiving, sorting, and processing mail and parcels.
  • Receiving, responding, and processing requests for room bookings.
  • Reporting maintenance issues to the CAFM Helpdesk and liaising with FM staff daily.
  • Maintain reception in an organized and presentable manner.
  • Performing other administrative duties to support daily operational of our premises.

The ideal candidate will possess the following attributes:

  • Good standard of spoken and written English.
  • Previous experience in a similar role in the higher education, hospitality, or cultural sector.
  • A friendly and approachable demeanour and ability to portray a customer-oriented attitude.
  • Experience of management post and preparing manifests.
    Good organisational skills and ability to gather information and provide a response service.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office and able to use other specialist software following training.
  • Room booking experience and knowledge of CAFM system desirable but not essential.
  • Qualifications in Customer Service, First Aid, Fire Warden duties desirable but not essential.
