Looking to be part of the electrification revolution? Come join us at WMG! WMG is a vibrant, cutting-edge research institution at the University of Warwick, and we are looking for a Research Fellow to work on the synthesis and characterisation of Ni-rich layered oxide cathodes for next-generation Li-ion batteries. The candidate will have access to the cathode synthesis scale-up and advanced characterization facilities on campus to investigate the properties of these cathode materials and their electrochemical performance in pilot line cells. Parts of the research will also be carried out national facilities like Diamond Light Source and ISIS Neutron and Muon Source. The project is part of Faraday Institution’s FutureCat consortium, and the successful candidate will be supervised by Professor of Battery Innovation Louis Piper at WMG.
About You
Successful candidates are expected to have a PhD in Solid State Chemistry or related disciplines (Physics or Materials Science) with experience of working in multi-disciplinary collaborative projects on next generation battery materials. Applicants skilled in materials synthesis techniques and/or characterization, such as X-ray spectroscopy and diffraction at synchrotron facilities are desired. Knowledge in standard electrochemical characterisation is also valued.
If you have not yet been awarded your PhD but are near submission or have recently submitted your PhD, any offers of employment will be made as Research Assistant on level 5 of the University grade structure (£31,411 pa). Upon successful award of your PhD and evidence of this fact, you will be promoted to Research Fellow on the first point of the level 6 of the University grade structure (£32,348 pa).
