The University of Essex is one of the top research-intensive universities in the UK. The School of CSEE is top-rated and has a long-standing tradition of research into Communications and Networks (COMNET). It was one of the first UK universities to actively research into these areas, back in the Department of Electronic System Engineering (ESE). In the recent Research Excellence Framework 2021 (REF’2021), CSEE ranks the 6th in the UK for our research power and the 9th for our research impact (by Grade Point Average).
Duties of the Role
You will be appointed as a Senior Research Officer at Essex with a fixed term of 19 months and will work with the PI Dr Zilong Liu (email: zilong.liu@essex.ac.uk) for successful delivery of the two-year project “Evolving Sequences for Beyond-5G Machine-Type Communications (SORT),” funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), UK, as well as a joint research project “High Spectral Efficiency Minimal Interference Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access Communication Signals” with NTU Singapore. As a driving force of these projects, you are expected to publish/present the research outputs in quality IEEE journals and flagship conferences and protect them through patent applications (if any). You are also expected to actively engage with the research community and industrial partners for maximizing the project impact. This is a research-focused position and no teaching duties are associated to this post.

The University of Essex is a campus based University and all academic appointments are made with the expectation that you will be present on campus to fulfil the requirements of your position.
