Role Outline
Boston University Study Abroad London is seeking a lecturer to teach a popular elective course in Advertising Strategy as part of our Fall 2024 London Internship Programme for American study abroad students.
Starting on mid-October, teaching is for 9 weeks on Mondays (AM or PM slots) or Fridays (AM slots) amounting to 40 classroom contact hours in total, plus final exam coverage for the course, which concludes on Thursday 12th December.
Elective B classes are taught on Mondays or Fridays. Monday classes are scheduled for 14th, 21st, and 28th October; 4th, 11th, 18th, and 25th November; 2nd, 3rd and 9th December. Alternatively, Friday classes are scheduled for 18th and 25th October; 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd, and 29th November; 5th, 6th and 10th December. The final exam is scheduled for 12th December. Additionally, 11th December is reserved as a contingency teaching day, to be utilised if any lectures cannot be delivered as planned during the academic calendar.
This is a temporary appointment with the potential to be renewed.

Advertising Strategy
This class will introduce advanced advertising and media theory, focussing on the role of advertising and its integration within contemporary marketing communications. It will define the advertising management process, the importance of creativity, messages, media, and measurement. Finally, it will present and apply the planning, development and evaluation of advertising campaigns and examine the functions of advertising agencies with a focus on the importance of communication skills when producing an agency pitch deck for a client.
Required Skills
The successful candidate will be a highly competent lecturer, possessing both significant professional experience and teaching expertise in Advertising. They will hold a minimum of a Master’s degree, preferably a PhD, in a relevant discipline. Applicants should demonstrate excellent cross-cultural communication skills and experience in teaching undergraduate students, preferably including American & international students.
