Sidney Sussex College wishes to recruit for a new position of Deputy Senior Tutor.

The Deputy Senior Tutor will report to, and support the Senior Tutor, collaborating and sharing responsibility for the development and implementation of the College’s academic strategy, and for the provision of appropriate academic support to its students. Depending on the experience and seniority of the post-holder, the role carries either a Bye-Fellowship or a Fellowship.

The post holder is also responsible for the leadership, professional development, and management of the Tutorial Office team, and is the line manager for the Admissions Director, the College Librarian, and the Archivist.

The successful applicant’s profile will feature varied administrative experience, including line management and budgeting;  broad knowledge and nuanced understanding of academic life;  a commitment to best practice risk management by implementing and documenting appropriate processes especially – but not only – in areas subject to external regulatory oversight;  resilience, and the ability to prioritise at times of high pressure in the academic cycle;  a natural inclination to work collaboratively with close colleagues, sharing ideas, achieving consensus, and delivering on agreed objectives;  strong organisational and communication skills with a high degree of planning and attention to detail;  a record of strong academic achievement, enabling the incumbent to be a lively contributor to the college’s academic community.

The role is 70% full time equivalent.  The salary range is based on the University of Cambridge single salary spine between points 54-60.  This currently equates to £52,815-£63,029 per annum, pro rata.  Salary progression through the range is discretionary.  Benefits include an annual leave entitlement of 25 days holiday plus 8 bank holidays (pro-rata); a contributory defined benefit pension scheme provided by the Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS); free College meals when on duty and subsidised membership of the College gym facilities.
