Job description:
The Role
We are seeking a highly motivated Research Assistant or Associate to take a lead in the development and application of federated digital twin approaches as part of the WILSON project, a four-year funded by Horizon Europe through the UKRI Horizon Europe guarantee scheme.
You will take a leading role in developing and applying federated digital twin approaches using some of the latest developments in Personalised Data Hubs (PDH) and International Data Space (IDS) principles. You will support the development of the use cases for energy and non-energy services by enabling data sharing and utilisation across various domains. You will support the development of a predictive maintenance tool to train asset degradation models using homogenous asset data from the building portfolio.
You will have access to one of the largest city scale urban observatories, the Newcastle Urban Observatory, which you will use to demonstrate the federated digital twin approach developed in the WILSON project.
You will have the unique opportunity to work in a multidisciplinary environment, collaborating closely with 15 research consortium partners, including universities, SMEs, and industry leaders from across Europe. You will also represent Newcastle University at project meetings throughout Europe.
You will also play a key role in helping the project team test the research outcomes in the WILSON living labs and large-scale pilots, including the local Newcastle Helix (https://www.ncl.ac.uk/who-we-are/helix/).
This full-time position (37 hours per week) is available immediately on a fixed-term basis for up to 48 months or until the project concludes, whichever comes first.
