About the Job

Interview Date: 26 June 2024

The University of Northampton is looking for a Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) registered midwife with clinical and educational experience for a 1.0 FTE Lecturer substantive position (fractional posts will be considered). The post will include teaching, assessing and supervising undergraduate students on the pre-registration BSc (Hons) Midwifery programmes as well as contributing to a growing postgraduate portfolio of study within the Health Professions subject group and wider Faculty of Health, Education and Society, UON.

We are seeking a midwifery educator who can contribute to the delivery of education and research joining our passionate team. You will be a fellow of the Higher Education Academy or be willing to work towards application. Midwife educators with qualifications in the Systematic Physical Examination of the Newborn (NIPE) and Professional Midwifery Advocate (PMA) are welcomed as well as those with experience in high dependency maternity care.

You will be based at Waterside campus (and other University of Northampton sites) but travel will be required to practice learning partner sites periodically. Hours will mainly be Monday - Friday from 9am and 5pm with some evening and weekend work supporting central University recruitment activities i.e. Open Days and student engagement and recruitment activities. If fractional hours are requested then flexibility will be required to days worked to meet needs of the service.

We want you to be able to carry out your work in a way that best supports UON and our students, but also you as an individual. We understand this may vary between different areas of the university as well as from one person to another.  With Smarter Working you can work with increased flexibility, if you would like to, which can facilitate greater freedom and autonomy.

Whilst remote working is available for this post the number of days per week will vary during each semester depending on the requirements of the post, this will be discussed in more detail at interview.

About You

You will have a passion for midwifery education, curriculum design and research, experience in these areas would be desirable. You will have an understanding of using research methodology and a commitment to the University of Northampton research agenda. You will be joining a team who are committed to your professional development and will support you in developing skills as an academic, educator and in research.

You must be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council as a midwife and be educated to minimum of BSc level with evidence of recent continuing professional development.
