Job Summary
The Department of Chemical Engineering is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Corrosion Engineering who is experienced in corrosion research, with an emphasis on experimental corrosion rate measurements. Working closely with a major international company, you will take the lead in measuring rates of metal corrosion in crude oil and CO2 process lines which are detrimental to process plant operations. You will be a member of a small team working at Imperial College and with our industrial partner on the project. Some overseas travel to meet with our industrial partners will be required.
Duties and responsibilities
To carry out a research programme in corrosion engineering, with a specific task of determining the rate and extent of metal corrosion as a function of key process variable including temperature, pressure and chemical composition. You will also support related research activities focussed on identifying the critical trace chemical species present in the process stream which are initiating the corrosion events.
Essential requirements
*Candidates who have not yet been officially awarded their PhD will be appointed as Research Assistant within the salary range £41,694 – £44,888 per annum.
Further Information
You can start immediately and the contract will run for 24 months in the first instance, with the possibility of extension subject to research funding. The post is based in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Imperial College London (South Kensington Campus).
*New appointments will have a maximum starting salary of £50,305 based on experience.
