This is an exciting opportunity to make a contribution to the teaching of Sport and Exercise Science with the School of Sport and Exercise Science at the University of Worcester. As an integral member of the dynamic and expanding School of Sport and Exercise Science, the Lecturer (Teaching) in Sports and Exercise Science will work within a team delivering high quality teaching of Sport, Physical Activity and Health, and will also support staff and students engaged in teaching & learning, research and consultancy.

In the School of Sport and Exercise Science our vision is to use sport as an engine for opportunity - supporting positive social transformation. We have an excellent international reputation in the field of inclusive sport, pioneering new ways to open up the joy of active participation in sport to hitherto marginalised and under-represented groups. We also maintain a strong focus on employability in our teaching, and for several years have had no less than 97% graduate employability according to the UK Graduate Outcomes annual survey. Worcester graduates are skilled, experienced and enthusiastic, and we know that they go on to make a significant impact as the sports practitioners of the future. We offer a range of courses from Foundation Degrees to PhD, with some of our most popular courses being BSc Sport and Exercise Science, BSc Sports Therapy, BSc Physical Education and Sports Coaching and MSc Performance Analysis.

Our commitment to work that delivers real social benefit is facilitated through high quality teaching, world leading research, and ground-breaking facilities. For example, the University of Worcester Arena is the first sports facility in the UK to be designed with the needs of the wheelchair athlete in mind. We have also developed a range of productive partnerships, both at home and overseas; collaborations that have helped cement Worcester’s place on the world stage.

The University of Worcester is a university that is really on the move. We were recently nominated for THE awards in 5 categories including University of the Year, winning the award for ‘Outstanding Contribution to the Local Community’. Worcester City is a beautiful, historic city on the River Severn and has achieved many different accolades, most recently being voted the 9th best place in the UK to live (Telegraph, April 2024).
