The Department is known for its combination of both academic and professional training in politics and international relations with a focus on the politics and international relations of the Global South (Asia, Africa, and the Middle East).

About the Role

The Department of Politics and International Studies is pleased to invite applications for a Lectureship (Teaching) focused on Political Theory for the academic year 2024-2025 (0.5FTE).

The role holder will be expected to support the delivery of our undergraduate and postgraduate degrees.

In particular, the role holder will convene and teach both general and specialist modules (individually and with others), advise undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations, and provide pastoral care for students. The  role holder will also be expected to work in a collegial and collaborative manner with both academic and non-academic staff across the Department and the School.

Alongside expertise focused on the Global South, we are open as to thematic specialism within the field of Political Theory broadly defined.

The role holder will be expected to convene, teach, and contribute to our portfolio of undergraduate and postgraduate taught modules (with a focus on Political Theory), to supervise undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations, and to develop an academic leadership profile within and beyond the Department of Politics and International Studies. In addition, the role holder will be expected to work in a collegial and collaborative manner with academic and non-academic staff across the Department and the School.
