Head of Operations and Innovation

Applications are invited for a temporary post of a Head of Operations and Innovation within UCD Innovation Academy.

Our mission is to contribute to the improvement of society through transformational educational experiences. With 1000s of learners each year from within UCD and outside, seven flagship programmes spanning innovation, sustainability and digital transformation, and a major strategic collaboration between UCD and TU Dublin, the UCD Innovation Academy (IA) seeks to recruit a Head of Operations and Innovation to support its mission and ensure it can meet and exceed future student expectations.

Reporting to the Director of the Innovation Academy, the appointed Head of Operations and Innovation will oversee the transition of the UCD Innovation Academy from the VP for Research to a new home under the UCD Registrar/Deputy President and VP for Academic Affairs. In this role, you will drive a culture of operational innovation, service excellence, and program innovation within this experimental and agile unit, situated within the larger framework of the University. Your responsibilities will include managing and inspiring a team, shaping the operations strategy (including processes, resources, HR, finance, and information management), and integrating innovative technology and sustainability initiatives. As the Head of Operations and Innovation, your critical role involves not only designing and professionalising internal and external processes but also embedding and building upon the new operational and program software (ClickUp). This integration will significantly contribu te to improving efficiency and effectiveness, ensuring the seamless delivery of pioneering services to our learners. Additionally, your contribution within the leadership team will be instrumental in successfully implementing our sustainability strategy and launching our major infrastructural project, UCD Greenacre.

As Convene, UCD Innovation Academy’s flagship collaboration with TU Dublin, approaches its conclusion, we are excited to welcome our new Head of Operations and Innovation. This role will play a crucial part in supporting the development of our innovative experiential sustainability learning space, UCD Greenacre, situated right on campus. As we move forward, we aim to build upon significant achievements, including launching Ireland’s first interdisciplinary MakerSpace undergraduate module and pioneering the country’s inaugural Virtual Reality program for future skills developed in collaboration with enterprise.

95 Senior Administrative Officer III\2010 Salary Scale: €87,949 - €119,968 per annum

Appointment will be made on scale and in accordance with the Department of Finance guidelines
