Lecturer in Teacher Education (Gaelic Education - Primary) -

The Institute of Education, Teaching and Leadership within Moray House School of Education and Sport is inviting applications for a Lecturer in Teacher Education (Gaelic-medium primary education) to support the delivery across undergraduate and postgraduate Initial Teacher Education Primary programmes, specifically the MA Primary with Gaelic. This post is full-time (35 hours per week), Maternity cover and can be offered as a fixed-term or seconded basis, for 1 year. It will be appointed on a Teaching and Scholarship track.

The Opportunity:
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to sector-leading Teacher Education provision for Moray House School of Education and Sport in the area of Gaelic-medium primary education. The post holder will make a key contribution to the leadership, development and design of teaching, pedagogy, and assessment across the Primary Education curriculum with a specific focus on Gaelic-medium primary education. The post holder will have extensive established research informed practice and expertise in primary education within the Gaelic-medium sector.
We welcome applicants who can bring a critical and creative understanding of curriculum and the role of the teacher and have been active in leading and designing innovative projects and developing partnerships between community and schools. It would be considered advantageous for candidates to have expertise across multiple areas of the primary curriculum.
Candidates will have strong knowledge and understanding of the Gaelic-medium education sector and of the Scottish Education system and the Broad and General Education phase and will be able to refer to research and scholarship in these areas.
Post holders will be expected to contribute to a plan of continuous programme of scholarship through developing their research and evidence informed practices and knowledge-exchange activities as relevant to role.
The appointee will join the Institute of Education, Teaching and Leadership which offers three primary education programmes: PGDE Primary, MSc Transformative Learning and Teaching and MA Primary Education with Gaelic.
