The opportunity:
We seek a post-doctoral research associate with expertise in scientific programming and terrestrial carbon (C) cycle analysis. The post holder will work with Mercury, a fast-growing partner business, to support development of farming decision support tools to meet net zero targets. Analysis will focus on sub-field resolution, UK focused analyses of terrestrial C-cycling and carbon budgets. The method involves combining observations (e.g. satellites) and process-modelling within a Bayesian framework. The post-holder will be responsible for synthesising ecological knowledge from the analyses, delivering outputs to stakeholders and generating peer-reviewed publications. The position fulfils a central role in delivering an Innovate UK / DEFRA sponsored project to expand Mercury’s offering into a ‘full farm assessment’ of productivity, nutrient management and carbon assessment.
This post is full-time (35 hours per week), and requires on-campus working to integrate closely into the Global Change Ecology Lab.
