An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Lecturer to join the School of Politics, Philosophy, Language and Communication Studies to undertake research within the framework of the School’s research strategy and contribute to the teaching, assessment and module organisation on undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, providing supervision to PhD students.
You will have the opportunity to develop your research profile which compliments existing research strengths, seeking national and international recognition. You will develop proposals to secure external funding and disseminate results through academic publications and conferences.
Teaching is a key part of this role and as such you will be expected to plan, teach, and assess at undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, taking responsibility for the delivery and assessment of specific modules. We are looking for a scholar with a PhD (or equivalent) in a relevant subject area and a teaching and research profile in politics and public policy and administration, ideally with a focus on public affairs. As well as a record of internationally significant research outputs commensurate with stage of career, along with relevant teaching experience. Experience of managing enterprise and engagement projects and evidence of successful applications for external grant income would be advantageous.
You will join a group of internationally recognised scholars in political science and public policy with varied interests ranging from the politics of language (e.g., free and hate speech, rhetoric, and parliamentary debate), to the environment, elections, party politics, and new threats to democracy, and to governance in various geographical areas and institutional settings (e.g. UK, EU, Asia-Pacific).
