Assistant Professor (Multiple Posts, Permanent and Fixed Term)

Salary:

£44,263 to £56,021 per annum (pro-rata if applicable) depending on skills and experience. Salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance.

The fixed term post will be offered at £44,263 only due to funding

The School of Sociology and Social Policy is a vibrant, diverse, and exciting centre for social science teaching and research. We are a multidisciplinary School covering criminology, sociology, public policy and administration, social policy, and social work. We are looking for enthusiastic scholars to join our team in any area of Sociology. The successful applicants will be expected to make a significant contribution to research and teaching in the School, taking responsibility for the quality of the education we provide, and for identifying new opportunities and sources of funding for research, as well as contributing to high-quality submissions to future assessments of research excellence. They will also play an active role in school operations, for example by taking on a significant administrative role in relation to research and/or teaching. Teaching on our very popular undergraduate programmes will be an immediate priority. 

We have two permanent posts available from 1st September 2024, as well as a fixed term post available from the 1st September 2024 until 31st August 2027. Hours of work are full-time (36.25 hours per week); however applications are also welcome from candidates wishing to work part-time (minimum 29 hours per week). Please specify in your application if you wish to work part time and the number of preferred hours. Interviews for this post will be held on the 25^th of June 2024.

For the fixed term post requests for secondment from internal candidates may be considered on the basis that prior agreement has been sought from both your current line manager and the manager of your substantive post, if you are already undertaking a secondment role.
