The UCD School of Mathematics and Statistics and School of Computer Science is seeking to appoint an Assistant Professor in the area of Foundational Statistics for Artificial Intelligence. The successful candidate will develop new theory and methodology at the interface of Statistics and Artificial Intelligence.
The UCD College of Science, to which the School of Mathematics and Statistics and the School of Computer Science belong, is undergoing an exciting transformation under the guiding principle of `data in science, science in data’. This new post aligns with the College of Science’s guiding principle, and with the AI and Digital Technologies ethos of the pillars and initiatives in the UCD 2030 Breaking Boundaries strategy.
The successful candidate will develop and sustain a leading foundational research programme at the interface of Statistics and Artificial Intelligence, including publishing in peer-reviewed academic journals, the supervision of research students and the development and submission of competitive applications for external funding. The candidate will be expected to develop a research programme which augments and broadens the current areas of research in both Schools. The successful candidate will also be expected to be committed to pursuing excellence in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching across both School’s wide-ranging data-centric programmes, and to contribute to the development and delivery of new programmes
95 Lecturer/Asst Professor Above the Bar (7943) Salary Scale: €62,855 - €99,533 Per Annum
Appointment will be made on scale and in accordance with the Department of Finance guidelines.
