Derby College Group (DCG) are looking for part-time enthusiastic and experienced Teacher to join our excellent Level 3 Animal Care department at Broomfield Hall, teaching 2 days per week. You’ll deliver high quality, inspirational teaching which encourages students to reach their full potential, promoting progression on to higher level courses or preparing them for careers working with animals. The Opportunity
As a key member of the Animal Care team, you will contribute to the planning, resourcing, and delivery of high-quality teaching and assessment. The role includes responsibility for course administration and internal quality assurance, as well as actively supporting student progress and achievement. This will involve setting and reviewing academic targets, monitoring performance, and providing appropriate pastoral support to students.
You will also play an active role in course-related trips and visits, student recruitment activities, open days, and information evenings. In addition, you will support and oversee student work experience as part of the programme, ensuring that all college and awarding body requirements and standards are consistently met.

About you
The successful candidate will have proven experience in providing outstanding support to students and will be flexible, self‑motivated, and committed to student achievement and quality. You will have a strong background in animal husbandry, including animal handling, feeding, and behaviour, and be able to multitask in a fast‑paced environment. Experience of teaching the City & Guilds Technical Certificate in Animal Management at Level 3 is desirable, alongside up‑to‑date industry CPD and experience. A teaching qualification and a degree in Animal Care are also required.
