The Faculty of Engineering & Design are looking for a pro-active and motivated individual to join the Courses and Assessment Support Team as a Programmes Administrator on a secondment basis.
About the role
You will play a key role in the team, working collaboratively with both professional services and academic colleagues, to ensure the smooth and efficient administration and operation of the taught degree courses within the Faculty of Engineering and Design.
Working alongside another Programmes Administrator, you will primarily support the undergraduate course's business for the Department of Mechanical Engineering. We are a small team and as such, all members of the team are required to work flexibly and collaboratively in support of each other.
Your core responsibilities will focus on all assessment related processes for the academic and taught student lifecycle.
You will also provide day-to-day administrative support for teaching, assessment and student data management activities. This will include maintaining student records on the University’s student records database, supporting the Directors of Studies, responding to enquiries from students and academic colleagues, as well as communicating with external examiners.
At times the Programme Administrator may be required to work across our departments to ensure the smooth delivery of the faculty’s core assessment and progression business.
Further information
This is a full-time (36.5 hours per week) role, for a fixed-term period until 28 May 2026.
For an informal discussion, please contact:
Emma Greeley, Programmes Manager, Faculty of Engineering & Design (E.S.J.Greeley@bath.ac.uk);
or Josh Ryall, (Programmes Officer, Faculty of Engineering and Design (jar97@bath.ac.uk).
About you
Experience in the use of university-specific software (e.g. Moodle, SAMIS/SITS and Business Objects) is desirable, though not essential, since training will be provided. Most importantly is an interest in our work, a willingness to become fully involved in both team business, and the life of the faculty and its departments.
We care about staff and student well-being, excellent service, and University reputation. If this resonates with you, and you are a good team player who also enjoys working independently, taking initiative and being accountable, we will welcome an application from you.
We are currently operating a hybrid work model, so there would be the opportunity to work from home if desired, with a three day per week minimum on campus requirement. One of the on-campus working days must be a Wednesday.
What we can offer you:
We consider ourselves to be a university where difference is celebrated, respected and encouraged. We have an excellent international reputation with staff from over 60 different nations and have made a positive commitment towards gender equality and intersectionality receiving a Silver Athena SWAN award. We truly believe that diversity of experience, perspectives, and backgrounds will lead to a better environment for our employees and students, so we encourage applications from all genders, backgrounds, and communities, particularly from under-represented groups, and value the positive impact that will have on the university. We are committed to maintaining a safe and secure environment for our students and staff.
