We are looking for a Governance Officer with exceptional administration skills and the aspiration/ambition to develop their skills in supporting and enabling effective governance.
Reporting to the Assistant University Secretary, the successful candidate will have lead responsibility for governance administration for the University’s Board of Governors and its sub-Committee, ensuring that Board and Committee business is organised, and that all related administration and communications are effectively coordinated and serviced. They will also support compliance with the regulatory requirements of the Office for Students, Companies House and the Charity Commission and will support the University’s risk management function. You should be able to demonstrate a basic understanding of the role and responsibilities of governance administration in HE or a similar organisation and the associated legal/compliance framework.
With outstanding interpersonal skills, the ideal candidate will be adept at building and maintaining strong relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders with tact and diplomacy. You will also have exceptional oral and written communication skills with the ability to support effective reporting to the Board and its sub-Committees.
Successful candidates will have a good education to GCSE level or equivalent, to include Maths and English. Substantial experience of senior governance administration work, preferably in a large and complex organisation is essential, along with the ability to manage conflicting priorities. Candidates should be able to demonstrate resilience, with the power to persuade and influence and the ability to deal with challenges in an assertive yet professional manner.
This role will be located at Leeds Trinity University campus in Horsforth, Leeds. Through our agile working framework, there will also be the option to spend some time working remotely, which will be discussed further with candidates at interview.
