This post will contribute to the future direction and curriculum for our new Electronic Music and Sound award and will have a role in developing and delivering innovative teaching and contributing to the research and industry engagement culture of the programme. The role involves working closely with the Course Leader and Programme Director to develop the collaborative links with other courses and with industry and may involve teaching on related awards where appropriate.
The successful candidate will have current knowledge of the technical and creative demands of working in electronic music composition, studio and location recording techniques and audio post-production. Professional experience in electronic music and sound is essential. You will be able to evidence high level technical expertise in the use of digital audio workstations (e.g. Pro Tools, Ableton Live) with practical knowledge of creative coding for music/ audio (e.g. MAX, Pure Data). Knowledge of future trends, contexts, new technologies and media strategies likely to impact the electronic music and sound industries and / or knowledge of music composition and sound design for games engines are desirable.
The successful applicant will be an excellent teacher who puts inclusivity at the heart of their practice. You will be an advocate for electronic music and sound, promoting the course to prospective students and teachers, both at home and internationally. You will have the ability to work closely with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, bringing diverse voices into our student experience and ensuring the support we give our students is culturally competent. You will have the ambition to equip students with the social and cultural capital that will allow them to confidently grasp graduate-level opportunities and challenges. You will be a strong team player able to demonstrate excellent skills in communication, organisation and management.
The appointment will be made at either Lecturer or Senior Lecturer level dependent on the successful candidate’s experience. For the Senior Lecturer role, experience of leading a year group, module or unit within higher or further education is essential.
Salary:
Lecturer
£22,949 to £27,247 per annum, pro-rated from a full-time equivalent salary of £38,249 to £45,413 per annum
Senior Lecturer
£28,041 to £33,453 per annum, pro-rated from a full-time equivalent salary of £46,735 to £55,755 per annum
Working Hours: Part-time, 0.6 FTE. 21 hours per week
