Job Description

The University of Khorfakkan (UKF) is seeking a highly qualified Assistant or Associate Professor in Sociology. The ideal candidate should have a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and academic mentorship at both undergraduate and graduate levels.

Candidates must have a proven research record, with the ability to establish and sustain a funded research program, publishing in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals, particularly those indexed in Scopus.

While Arabic is the primary language of instruction and communication, candidates must have graduated from an English-speaking university and be capable of teaching in both Arabic and English.

Applicants should submit a cover letter, a detailed curriculum vitae, a brief statement outlining current and future research activities, a teaching philosophy, and a list of previously taught courses. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in sociology, covering key topics such as social theory, cultural studies, social change, and contemporary social issues.
• Engage in research activities and initiate projects leading to publications in internationally recognized, peer-reviewed journals.
• Supervise graduation projects, master's theses, and doctoral dissertations.
• Contribute to curriculum development by updating and enhancing sociology programs to reflect contemporary global and regional challenges.
• Participate in academic accreditation processes, ensuring compliance with the UAE Commission for Academic Accreditation and international standards.
• Perform administrative duties as assigned by the department, college, or university.
• Engage in community service initiatives, including organizing events and providing consultancy in sociological research and public policy.
• Offer academic advising and student mentorship to support students' academic and professional development. 

Required Qualifications and Competencies:

• PhD in Sociology or a closely related field from a recognized university.
• Ideally at least three years of successful teaching experience at both undergraduate and graduate levels in sociology or related disciplines.
• A strong research record with publications in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals or indexed in Scopus.
• Experience supervising graduation projects, as well as master’s and doctoral theses.
• Proven ability to establish collaborations with academic institutions, research organizations, and industry partners.
• A demonstrated history of contributing to university and community service initiatives.
• Preference for candidates with experience in e-learning and online education.
• Proficiency in integrating digital technology and AI into curriculum design and instruction. 

The selected candidate is expected to play an active role in the advancement of the college and university, contributing to its research, teaching, and community engagement efforts.
