Job description:
We are seeking two experienced, qualified and accredited counsellors/psychotherapists to join our existing supportive, collaborative and experienced team at The University of Sheffield Counselling Service.
Educated to minimum post graduate diploma level or equivalent, you will be a flexible and skilled therapist, able to respond to a wide range of emotional difficulties faced by students, aiming to reduce distress and support ongoing engagement in academic studies. You will work closely with colleagues within a multidisciplinary setting to achieve the best outcomes for students, providing initial student consultation appointments, as well as short-medium term psychological therapy to a large and diverse student population. As this role may involve working with students who have experienced sexual violence, experience and knowledge of working with individuals who have experienced trauma would be an advantage.
We are committed to offering placements for trainee’s and providing learning opportunities for the next generation of therapists. Therefore, you will be willing to take an active role in our service placement offer, either in a direct clinical supervisory capacity, or as part of the wider support system for trainees within the service.
The service aims to be active in health promotion in order to co-create a resilient community with our students. It is part of a broader campus support network and will provide you with opportunities to regularly work with colleagues and students in all departments and sections, ensuring students and staff are well informed about the Service and how to access it.
If you are passionate about supporting students during their journey through higher education, whilst working in a friendly and supportive team, then we would love to hear from you!
