We are looking to appoint a highly qualified and motivated individual with experience in mass spectrometry to the proteomics facility at the Cambridge Institute for Medical Research (CIMR https://www.cimr.cam.ac.uk ), University of Cambridge.

The proteomics facility offers comprehensive quantitative proteomic analysis for a wide range of sample types to academic users within CIMR, wider Cambridge University departments, as well as to academic laboratories more broadly across the UK. The facility is currently equipped with two Thermo Orbitrap analysers: a QExactive Plus and a Fusion Lumos, and we are planning to acquire a Bruker timsTOF HT in the near future.

This role involves managing aspects of the facility, including its finances and external engagement (e.g. interactions with biotech and pharmaceutical companies), as well as providing support and advice to academic users, carrying out sample and data analysis, and maintaining the facility's instruments.

You should have a PhD with extensive experience in a proteomics/mass spectrometry laboratory, outstanding organisation and communication skills, and should work well as part of a team. In-depth knowledge of and extensive hands-on experience in the following areas is essential:

- Analysis of proteins and peptides by LC-MS/MS;

- Operation of the Orbitrap and other nanoflow-inlet-based instrument platforms and quantitative proteomics strategies;

- Experience with bioinformatics analysis and software for protein identification and validation as well as protein quantification.

Funding for this position is for 3 years in the first instance with a start date as soon as possible. 

CIMR's mission is to determine the molecular mechanisms of disease in order to advance human health. Major research interests in the CIMR include rare genetic disease, neurological disease, and intracellular infection.
