New College Library, Oxford is seeking a graduate trainee. With strong teamworking and interpersonal skills, and a capacity to carry out routine work quickly, methodically, and to a high standard in our busy, reader-focused library, you will join a small, friendly team. You will assist in the day-to-day running of New College Library—whose collections include manuscripts and rare books of international significance—and you will gain experience in a wide range of library duties. You will also participate in visits and events run by the University of Oxford’s Bodleian Libraries as part of the Bodleian Libraries Graduate Trainee Scheme, which provides the necessary experience for application to a postgraduate course in librarianship/information management.
Requirements & Salary
Applicants should have a good undergraduate degree (or be on course to achieve one by summer 2025), the ability to master new IT applications quickly, and demonstrable accuracy and attention to detail. A strong interest in special collections (early printed books and manuscripts) is desirable. You will work 35 hours per week, usually Monday to Friday, and your annual salary will be Grade 3.5: £25,733pa + Oxford weighting allowance of £1,500pa; benefits include contributory pension scheme and free lunches.
