About the role

MINT-COPD aims to investigate the effect of acute exacerbations of COPD (AECOPD) on skeletal muscle mass & function, and seeks to understand the role of novel therapeutics in mitigating these effects. This position will be tasked with delivering a mechanistic sub-study and associated alysis as directed by the research team. This will include the collection, processing and analysing of blood & muscle biopsy samples to understand the mechanistic effects of the intervention. Analysis will include techniques including but not limited to transcriptomics, proteomics, lipidomics, respirometry and other associated molecular analysis.  

About you

As the successful applicant, you will be highly motivated and self-driven, with a BSc (MSc or PhD desirable) in a relevant discipline as well as experience and expertise in molecular wet lab techniques.

You will have an excellent eye for detail, willingness to learn and ability to work in a team as well as individually to deliver on this exciting project. Having experience working on clinical samples or experience working in cell/molecular environments would be desirable, as well as experience working with ‘omic’ datasets.
