Are you interested in joining our world-leading clinical animal behaviour team at the University of Lincoln to work on a project investigating the management of anxiety in dogs? We are looking for a veterinary surgeon, preferably with clinical animal behavioural experience or qualification to work with us examining the effect of a supplement on anxiety in dogs.
You will be responsible for developing and managing your own case load at the clinic regarding dogs suffering from anxiety-related issues, especially with concomitant gastro-intestinal signs and reporting on these as a case series. You will be supported in the development of both your research and clinical behavioural skills by the clinic team.
Ideally you will be an MRCVS, but we will also consider an experienced veterinary graduate whose degree is not automatically registerable with the RCVS.
You will need to have excellent case documentation skills and be able to manage and motivate multiple clients over an extended time period. You will have an interest in research and in developing your research skills. Although some experience of research is desirable it is not essential and further specialist training will be given as needed.
We are looking for a veterinarian, who can work independently on their own project, but also as part of the wider clinical behaviour team. Specifically, the role will require you to take the lead in managing a series of cases relating to the effects of a probiotic on dogs with anxiety. You will need to be highly organised and to have excellent interpersonal skills, as you will be working with owners and vets as part of our clinical team.
Post graduate qualification in veterinary behavioural medicine or equivalent experience are highly desirable, but not essential for an appropriately motivated candidate. You will also be expected to become an active member of the Animal Behaviour Cognition and Welfare Group at the University of Lincoln and enjoy the benefits of being part of this internationally recognised group.
As one of the largest employers in the city, the University of Lincoln offers exciting career opportunities with the chance to grow and develop to reach your full potential. We also offer a wide range of staff benefits, including a generous annual leave allowance of 35 days per year pro rata (plus an additional 14 bank holiday and concessionary days), progressive pay rates, access to discounts at popular stores and more.
If you would like further information or an informal discussion about this exciting opportunity, please contact Professor Daniel Mills at DMills@lincoln.ac.uk.
When completing your application, please ensure you include details of the veterinary qualifications you hold and comment on their status with regards to their recognition by the RCVS – see https://www.rcvs.org.uk/registration/join-the-register-of-veterinary-surgeons/#apply.
