Leeds City College are recruiting for an Apprentice Teacher to join our team! This role is fixed term for 24 months.
Are you passionate about making a difference in post 16/adult education? We're looking for aspiring teachers to join our dynamic ESOL, English and Maths teams as Apprentice Teachers. This is a unique opportunity to train on the job while gaining a recognised teaching qualification (Level 5).
Over the two-year apprenticeship, you’ll gradually build your confidence and skills by working closely with experienced teachers across a range of adult and community learning settings. You’ll contribute to the planning and delivery of lessons, support learners at different levels and learn how to create inclusive, engaging classroom environments.
As part of your development, you will also take on Teaching Assistant responsibilities, supporting adult learners across various levels to deepen your practical understanding of learner needs and teaching approaches.
This is a role for someone with great communication skills, flexibility and a genuine desire to grow into a professional teaching career in further education.
Support the delivery of high-quality teaching across ESOL, English and Maths classes for adult learners.
Assist experienced tutors in planning and delivering engaging, inclusive lessons.
Take part in teaching assistant duties to build confidence and develop subject-specific classroom experience.
Help prepare schemes of work, lesson plans, teaching materials and assessments.
Support learners in achieving their individual learning goals through tailored guidance and regular progress tracking.
Record and monitor student progress, providing feedback and celebrating successes.
Reflect on your practice through regular observations, training and professional discussions as part of your apprenticeship.
Work towards delivering 100 hours of teaching over the two-year period.
Collaborate with colleagues to support learners’ wider personal and academic development.
You’re passionate about education and want to make a difference in adult learners’ lives.
You have strong communication skills and enjoy working with people from diverse backgrounds.
You're open-minded, flexible and ready to learn, with a willingness to develop your teaching and digital/AI skills.
You’re a team player who’s keen to support others and take on feedback to grow in your role.
You’re committed to inclusive practice and ensuring that every learner feels valued and supported.
You hold (or are working towards) a Level 3 qualification and have a good standard of English and Maths.
You’re comfortable using digital tools like Google Workspace, Office 365 and are curious about using technology such as AI to enhance learning.
