Outreach Manager (London, South East, based remote)

Responsible for London and the Southeast (home-based with frequent travel across the regions and surrounding areas).  

Manchester Met is home to one of the UK's largest and most diverse student communities with over 43,000 students representing over 100 countries.

The Recruitment and Admissions Department provides a seamless service to potential Manchester Met students from first enquiry through to enrolment for all modes and levels of courses. We are responsible for delivering a range of support services to enquirers, applicants, university staff and external stakeholders.

Team Details:

  • We operate a high-volume quality recruitment and admissions service, annually communicating with over 100,000 university enquirers and applicants through our recruitment campaigns.
  • We manage 40,000 visitors visiting our campuses and deliver over 800 events off campus.
  • We are also responsible for all aspects of offer making and offer communications with around 100,000 per year.
  • Quality information, advice and guidance is at the heart of what we deliver, enabling students to make informed choices about going to Higher Education and Manchester Metropolitan University.

Role Details: 

We are expanding our post16 outreach activities and we are looking for an experienced Student Recruitment Outreach Manager. While you will primarily be working from home, you are required to travel to oversee and drive our outreach activities in London and the Southeast areas.

As the Outreach Manager, you will be:  

  • Responsible for engaging and building relationships with key feeder schools and colleges in these areas to promote our activities and course offerings. 
  • Responsible for delivering talks, workshops and stand based activities in key locations and feeders, as well as overseeing a small staff team supporting the activities. 
  • Leading on some of our national activities in the surrounding regions and working with the team based in Manchester to cover these. You will also be reporting on key metrics, ensuring value for money and progress to target.    
  • Traveling throughout London and the Southeast very frequently, so it is expected that you will be based in the area. 
  • Expected to travel to the Manchester campus regularly for team meetings and other events.  

As the successful candidate  you must bring:

  • Extensive experience in post-16 outreach work and client management.  
  • Experience of tracking and measuring the outcomes of your work and have experience on how best to report updates and progress to target.   
  • Well developed analytical writing skills coupled with the ability to draw conclusions from complex information sets and to make recommendations for action.  
  • Extensive communicating, influencing and persuading skills for conveying complex information to a variety of audiences as well as influencing and persuading members at all levels internal and external to the organisation.  
  • Experience of managing staff, including leading, developing and motivating a team whilst applying policies like performance and sickness management.  
  • Knowledge of Manchester and Manchester Met would be an advantage.
