A fantastic opportunity to join as a Commercialisation Officer has arisen for an ambitious individual to join one of the most forward thinking and progressive universities in the country as Birmingham City University drives forward its programme of external projects within Engagement, Enterprise & Innovation. 

We are seeking to appoint a Commercialisation Officer to join our dynamic team to provide comprehensive support and development for all commercial projects, contributing to the strategic objectives of the University and specific faculty objectives working with a range of stakeholders within the University and with external businesses, project partners and funders. The role supports the negotiation of contracts, costing and pricing, through to, invoicing and payment received whilst building strong commercial relationships throughout a commercial project lifecycle.

Essential:

  • A degree (or demonstrate skills, qualifications and experience at an equivalent level). 
  • Demonstrable commercial experience in a customer service led environment.
  • Experience of providing support for complex commercial projects.
  • A project management qualification and/or experience of providing commercial support.
  • Experience of running financial systems / monitoring / administration project records (either financial or non-financial)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • IT skills including familiarity with Microsoft Office, Project Management software and SharePoint.

You should also be able to demonstrate:

  • An attention to detail with a well organised self-managing workstyle. 
  • Pragmatic approach to problem solving using own initiative 
  • Ability to identify, assess and understand potential risk to commercial delivery and propose solutions.
