We are seeking an enthusiastic person for the role of Alan Turing Liaison Coordinator to join the Cambridge Centre for Data-Driven Discovery (C2D3), based within the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in fostering collaboration and engagement in data science and artificial intelligence (AI) research.
As the Alan Turing Liaison Coordinator, you'll be at the heart of the exciting engagement between two world-leading institutions - The Alan Turing Institute, the UK's national institute for data science and AI, and the University of Cambridge (a founding member of the Institute) and now part of the Turing University Network. In this pivotal role, you'll be the key administrative bridge, driving connections and engagement, and supporting cutting-edge research in data science and AI.
You will perform an essential role in maximising the University's benefits from Turing membership, promoting Turing opportunities and raising awareness of the Institute within the University. Your responsibilities will include advising students, researchers, and academics on applying for Turing funding and participating in related activities. You will ensure information is disseminated to under-represented groups and communities through a thoughtful and inclusive approach, including using a variety of communication channels, and removing barriers to information access by tailoring messages.
As a representative of the University, you will attend regular (online) meetings to stay informed, contribute to the development of new schemes and initiatives, and participate in an annual in-person meeting. You will also have access to the Turing University Network Slack channel for communication with Turing staff and Liaisons across the UK, as well as a SharePoint workspace for key documentation and call materials. Additionally, you will report to University decision-makers on Turing-related activities and provide support for University steering groups and other bodies; when required, you may act as secretary to the steering groups and other bodies.
To create a sense of community at the University, you may organise meetings/events for Turing-affiliated researchers at the University to encourage interdisciplinary networking across departments. You will need to maintain up to date records of who in the University is engaged and involved in Turing activities.
The successful candidate will have Degree level/Level 6 vocational qualifications or equivalent level of practical experience, and experience in working in a University-wide initiative, network or similar research-related role.
Limit of tenure: 4 years. This is a part-time post with funding up to 0.6 FTE. The funds for this post are available for four years in the first instance, and the post may, subject to the availability of funding, be further renewed for a period or periods.
On the online form, you should clearly explain the reasons for your application, and indicate how you knowledge, skills and experience match the requirements of the role as described in the Further Particulars. The full contact details including their email addresses of two referees should be included.
The University actively supports equality, diversity and inclusion and encourages applications from all sections of society. We particularly welcome applications from women and /or candidates from a BAME background for this vacancy as they are currently under-represented at this level in our Department.
The University has a responsibility to ensure that all employees are eligible to live and work in the UK.
