Job overview
The successful candidate will be a native-level speaker of Spanish, able to enthuse students across the College to develop their aptitude within the language. The role is ideal for those interested in a career in teaching, with the opportunity to receive dedicated mentoring from the Head of Spanish. The Foreign Language Assistant will work with students both individually and in small groups in order to concentrate primarily on their oral aptitude and increase fluency, accuracy, and confidence with conversational Spanish. They will produce learning materials and resources appropriate for the level of Spanish of those students, working collaboratively with the classroom teacher and wider departmental colleagues.
At GCSE and A Level, clear knowledge of the examination requirements is vital, as is the effective giving of feedback and checking of progress made by students. It is envisaged that the Foreign Language Assistant will work closely with our A Level students at Sixth Form, meeting them once per week individually for intensive Spanish tuition.
