The above full-time post is available on a fixed-term basis to end September 2028 in the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences.

The post
The Faculty wishes to recruit a Research Officer to support three strands of exciting research:

  • NIHR Specialist Centre for Public Health Research Support Services (RSS SWS)
  • UK Hub for One Health Systems: Creating Sustainable Health and Social Care Pathways” (Net Zero Hub)
  • Peninsula Technology Assessment Group (PenTAG)

The vision of the RSS SWS is to develop the infrastructure, capacity and capability to support practitioners and researchers to carry out high-quality public health research, outside the NHS, to produce robust evidence to improve population health and reduce health and care inequalities. This post offers an opportunity to be part of the team to establish this new Satellite.

The Net Zero hub is a newly funded programme jointly funded by UKRI and the NIHR to help the NHS meet its net zero carbon obligations by identifying ‘carbon hotspots’ in care pathways, and, working with the NHS, patients, industry and other partners, to develop modifications to processes and pathways to lower carbon emissions, whilst carefully assessing and weighing up any impact on patient outcomes, cost and equity. PenTAG is a leading evidence assessment group providing expert advice to the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) and other stakeholders about the clinical and cost effectiveness of pharmaceuticals, diagnostic tests and other medical devices.

The post will include providing a comprehensive administrative service for these programmes, with expert co-ordination across the Hub and Satellite networks. They will be the first point of call for external queries and will understand the elements required for seamless project support to ensure the smooth running of the operational logistics of these teams.

About you
The successful applicant will be someone enthusiastic about working with and supporting colleagues in developing and maintaining a gold standard administrative service for both the RSS SWS and the Net Zero Hub, as well as joining a successful established team within PenTAG. Applicants should have excellent organisational and communication skills.
