Faculty / Directorate
BA (Hons) Acting and BA (Hons) Drama and Theatre Arts at De Montfort University sit within the School of Humanities and Performing Arts, in the Faculty of Arts, Design and Humanities. Both programmes sit within a vibrant cluster of programmes that includes: BA (Hons) Dance and BA (Hons) Creative Writing; and a burgeoning research student community.

Role
As a Lecturer in Drama, Acting and Performance, you will prepare, deliver and assess modules in your specialist area of actors training in one or more of the following areas:
You will make contributions to a range of modules through your experience of engaging with the professional creative industries. Additionally, you will engage in continuing professional development and use your research or professional practice to inform the curriculum and make a substantial contribution to the academic and reputational development of the subject area. Working closely with the Subject Group Lead, the Programme Leaders for the Acting and Drama and Theatre Arts programmes, and the subject teams, you will organise, deliver and evaluate the programme, modules and the students’ experience.
The role is on a permanent part time basis (22.2 hours per week). Due to Start 1st September 2025.
This role would be suitable for professionals, lecturers or experienced practitioners with a passion to train the next generation of actors.
Ideal Candidate
We are looking for an experienced, dedicated, and forward-thinking Lecturer, who is excited to contribute to the ongoing development of both the BA (Hons) Acting and BA (Hons) Drama & Theatre Arts undergraduate programmes. With an undergraduate and postgraduate degree and/or significant professional practice, it would be preferable to have excellent knowledge of and practical experience in working in the professional creative industries sector.
You will be able to think strategically and creatively about curriculum design and delivery and possess excellent communication, inter-personal and networking skills, with a strong commitment to delivering an excellent student experience and to working within a team to build on the successes of the Drama & Theatre Arts programme and help to develop the reputation of the new Acting programme. You will be expected to make a substantial contribution to the academic and reputational development of the subject area, and to engage in professional practice and/or research activities.
