The Lecturer in Law (Clinical Legal Education) will contribute to the development and delivery of Clinical Legal Education activities in the Law School with specific focus on the Law Clinic and other student-client facing activities. Through the Solent Moot Court the successful candidate will also contribute to the development and delivery of practical legal skills, student employability interventions and other pro-bono activities in collaboration with our extensive professional and Alumni networks

The Law School at Southampton Solent University has several highly successful clinical legal education opportunities in place for our students, including a recently launched Law Clinic which focuses on providing Family Law and Housing Law services to the local community. We are now seeking a candidate with significant experience of legal practice and/or running a law clinic or equivalent clinical legal education who can build upon and expand the existing opportunities and work with colleagues and stakeholders to develop new opportunities for our students.
We are seeking a Lecturer (0.6fte) to support CLE activities including competitions in the Moot Court room and engaging with our extensive network of industry experts and alumni who contribute to the formulation of our law curriculum. The successful candidate will be able to across our UG, PG and Executive Education areas and therefore being flexible to teach across a wide range of law topics is essential. We are especially looking for candidates that have specialisms in: Landlord and Tenant, Intellectual Property, Private Client and Professional Practice, Regulation, Compliance and AI.
The successful candidate will be a qualified solitor or barrister and have a wide range of Higher Education or legal practice experience. S/he will be able to contribute to innovating the curriculum, designing, and supporting engaging learning environments that is full of both theory and real-world application. In addition, the role will involve developing and overseeing course content, module leading, research-informed teaching, supervision, designing assessments, and pastoral support.
Salary will be dependent on qualifications and experience.
Start date Spring/Summer 2025.
During the interview the shortlisted candidates will be asked to deliver a micro 10 minute teaching session entitled: What does successful Clinical Legal Education look like, and what strategies would you employ to ensure students have access to authentic learning opportunities.
