The University of Glasgow is inviting applications for a Research Policy Associate with an expertise in economic policy to join its Centre for Public Policy. The Centre for Public Policy is an investment of the College of Social Sciences to build collaboration between the research and policy community – locally, nationally and internationally - by sharing evidence, nurturing skills, creating space for fresh thinking and preparing the next generation of policy makers.

A core focus of the Centre’s work is on the economy and public finances, covering national, regional and local policymaking. We welcome applications from outstanding early career researchers with backgrounds across all aspects of economics, including economic policy, economic geography, fiscal policy and economic analysis.

The Centre supports collaboration, creativity and policy engagement across the University, the public, third and private sectors, supporting researchers and policy makers to examine and address the policy challenges of today and the decades to come.

Postholders will make a substantial contribution to the development and activities of the Centre for Public Policy, building and enhancing the Centre’s reputation for excellence in research, knowledge exchange and impact within the policy communities in Glasgow, Scotland, the UK and internationally.

You will be accountable for planning and delivering your own weekly workload and have responsibility for making day-to-day decisions autonomously and as a team, in consultation with and with support from the Director and other senior members of the team.

As well as having the opportunity (approximately one day per week (0.2FTE)) and support to develop your own post-doctoral research, Research Associates will be expected to work, individually and collaboratively with colleagues, to develop and deliver new research and knowledge exchange projects that support the Centre’s priorities.

At Glasgow, we aim to ensure that every researcher is supported to be at their best, as part of an engaging, fair, and collegial culture in which people help each other to succeed, and to make informed active choices about their development and their careers.
