We are currenty seeking a motivated, proactive and passionate Lecturer in Electrical & Electronic Engineering to join an enthusiastic team within the School of Engineering on a fixed term basis for 12 months.
This is an exciting opportunity to teach on both undergraduate and taught postgraduate programmes. The role involves leading and contributing to the development, delivery and administrative support in various electrical and electronic subject areas, including Electrical, Digital and Analogue Electronics, Embedded Systems, IoT, Power & Control Systems, Robotics, Mechatronics and Communication technology, to ensure academic excellence. Applicants should ideally be expected to have technical practical hands-on experience in engineering design, implementation, processes and systems, along with strong skills in software tools, such as Matlab, MultiSim, Simulink, Proteus and Altium. The role will also include the academic and personal support of students, including providing support to those students on an apprenticeship programme.
The successful candidate should demonstrate an awareness of current developments and priorities within the Electrical and Electronic Engineering sector as well as being able to facilitate the creation and maintenance of a range of links between academic and engineering organisations. There will also be opportunities to engage in professional practices and collaborate with industry partners to enhance the learning experience for students. The role holder will be expected to work both independently, and as an effective member of a team which meets the needs of academic staff and students, and enables optimum use of University resources.
Applicants should hold a PhD in Electrical & Electronics Engineering or a closely related area (or possess equivalent professional experience) and should be a member of an associated professional body, ideally with Chartered Engineer (CEng) status. A relevant teaching qualification and/or fellowship status of the Higher Education Academy (HEA), will be a requirement. Prior relevant teaching experience at undergraduate or postgraduate levels is essential and highly desirable, along with experience in programme delivery, undertaking appropriate subject specific research, and a passion for teaching and curriculum development.
