THE UNIVERSITY OF HONG KONG 

The University of Hong Kong (HKU) has been collaborating with Shenzhen Government to develop the HKU-Shenzhen Hospital as a teaching hospital of HKU. With the presence of HKU, a new operation model for the Hospital has been introduced, aiming at providing high-quality services from primary to tertiary levels to patients in the region, whilst sustaining a teaching and training mission well supported by a robust research component. The Hospital has commenced operation since October 2012. As the Hospital is located in Shenzhen, the appointee will be based in Shenzhen. Accommodation/rental apartment in Shenzhen and weekly shuttle service between Hong Kong and Shenzhen will be provided. 

Chief of Service/Consultant in Clinical Oncology, Paediatrics, Medical Imaging/Diagnostic Radiology, Gastroenterology, and Obstetrics & Gynaecology

We are looking for Chief of Service/Consultant in Clinical Oncology, Paediatrics, Medical Imaging/Diagnostic Radiology, Gastroenterology, and Obstetrics & Gynaecology, to be seconded to The University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen) Teaching Hospital Limited (THL) and assigned to work in the HKU-Shenzhen Hospital. 

The Role

The Chief of Service and Consultant is responsible for the management of the clinical department, including but not limited to clinical services, medical staffing and relevant department committees. He/She should supervise and guide all operational activities within the clinical department, such as formulating operational policies, budget and plans. 

Qualifications and Qualities

Applicants should possess a medical degree eligible for registration with the Medical Council of Hong Kong and a specialist qualification and experience in Clinical Oncology, Paediatrics, Medical Imaging, Gastroenterology, or Obstetrics & Gynaecology. Ideally a minimum of 10 years of experience providing and overseeing specialist services in major hospitals is required. Profound healthcare expertise, strong leadership, and management capabilities are essential. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as well as proficiency in English and Mandarin (Putonghua), are mandatory. Preference will be given to candidates with knowledge of or experience in clinical work in Mainland China. 

What We Offer

The appointment will be made on fixed-term full-time contract for 3 years, to commence as soon as possible with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, together with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 15% of basic salary. Other benefits include annual leave and medical benefits.
