The role
We are one of the UK’s leading providers of industrially focused engineering, maths and physics education. We have a vibrant and comprehensive portfolio, strong student recruitment and some of the best teaching, learning and research facilities - benefitting from over £24m of STEM investment.
The School of Engineering and Built Environment is based in the College of Business, Technology and Engineering and encompasses a range of subject areas.
We are seeking an inspirational and driven Lecturer in Engineering Management to enhance our teaching and learning in the Mechanical Engineering Subject Area. You will have a subject specialism related to engineering management, and a commitment to delivering an outstanding student experience. In addition to excellence in teaching and learning you will have a commitment to scholarship in pedagogy, research and innovation, or external and professional engagement.
We are looking for people who can combine engineering management expertise, ideally derived from time spent working in the industry, with the enthusiasm and ability to pass on their knowledge and experience by creating and delivering high quality learning, teaching and assessment.
We recognise that engineering management is a broad discipline and would welcome applicants regardless of their field of specialism. However, we would particularly encourage applications from individuals with expertise in areas including project management, operations management, quality management, strategic and entrepreneurial management and engineering business management.
The department
The School of Engineering and Built Environment is arranged into a number of subject areas: Electrical, Electronic and Future Technologies, Mechanical Engineering, Future Transportation, Built Environment, and Energy, Infrastructure and Environment. We place equal emphasis on teaching and research, be it subject or pedagogic research into teaching Engineering and Mathematics to transform lives.
With excellent links to industry, we develop innovative products to improve the quality of lives, support the sustainable development of business and provide insights into fundamental questions about our universe. Through our strong industry partners, we provide applied learning opportunities for our students and our graduates perform really well in the labour market.
Research, Innovation and Knowledge Exchange in the School has strong alignment with UKRI priority areas, such as Manufacturing the Future, Clean Technologies, AI and Robotics, as well as Digital Innovations for Health. We are a welcoming community where staff and students are encouraged to develop their careers and make a fulfilling impact.
